Sigil is an excellent eBook editor. It has been created so that users who have no experience in designing eBooks can do so without any complication, because it's an intuitive WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor.

Some of the main features of Sigil are: multiplatform, it has multiple views to work with (Book View, Code View and Split View), it comes equipped with its own metadata editor (which includes all the entries you want to document each book), it can include tables of contents and insert images, and it supports SVG and Basic XGPT, it can import text from files in TXT, HTML and EPUB, you can manually modify the resulting code, and so on.
